One of the most common questions you get when hosting a morning show is, "what time do you wake up in the morning?" You sort of pause for a moment & realize they have no idea the insane time you actually do wake up. Because it's not morning, it's middle of the night.
I worked with a lot of people that slept as long as they could & raced there in the morning right before the start of the show. Everyone is different. Even though I had the show fully prepped & ready to go, my wake up time was 3:18 am. See, not morning, but in the middle of the night. As a guy there wasn't too much to do in the am (other than fighting off your 9 alarms you set just in case). Always a shower to help wake up, get changed, grab a coffee & water & out the door. Most of the reason I set the alarm more than 2 hours before the start of the show was to wake up. For me it took a while, so I got to the station by 4:22 and went through any hot topics that might have happened overnight or first thing in the am.
Just for the hell of it I did the math, in my morning show career I have woken up at 3:18 am 5,463 times. 2,850 times in Calgary alone.
Why 3:18 am and not 3:15 or 3:20?! I'll tell ya tomorrow.
