It's not about recognition

mookiew4

A few years ago my boss at 95.9, CHFM in Calgary, Gavin Tucker, asked me to submit to him a list of events I had taken part in/hosted on behalf of the radio station. There was an award for Rogers, Canada wide for the person most involved in their community. He wanted to submit my name.

It didn’t occur to me how many events I actually took part in until I physically wrote out that list. I was a Big Brother, and did weekly excursions with my little, I also hosted the major galas for BBBS charity as well, hosted all the Calgary Humane Society events, as well as events for Ronald McDonald House, including sitting on their board, took deserving kids to Disney with Dreams take flight, I was a hockey & baseball coach etc etc. To me, this is the best part about radio. Giving a hand up to the community you love so much. It’s one of the best parts of the job. I definitely wasn’t looking for recognition.
