Guess who got roped into doing the pa for my son's junior games?! I was quite happy with a few cold beers watching from the stands but when duty calls I rarely say no. Besides, if it helps keep good relations between my son and his coach, I'm in.
Obviously they didn't know my track record, I guess we'll keep that between us. But last year, after what the ref translated as making fun of one of his calls on the mic he fired me mid game. A brief account of what happened shortly before period 3. I guess he had the intermission to chew on it:
Ref: What's your name?
Me: Why is that important
Ref: You made fun of my hooking penalty and I'm not dropping this F$#@#*ng puck until you're out of here.
Me: In fairness, I didn't really see it. I was just....
Ref: Get the eff out!!! NOW!!
And I slithered away being fired from my volunteer job for doing nothing wrong.
Ohhhh sports are fun aren't they?!
