To what extent do you spoil your pet on their birthday?! Personally, I love seeing social pics of people that have full on birthday parties for their dogs. I mean, all the dog’s friends, dog activities etc. You’re my kind of people. I’m sure the dog has no idea what is going on, but nonetheless loving the attention and all their friends around.
We’ve never had a dog party for either Eddie or Charley, but the world does stop down for their special day. Meals are a deviation from the usual brown hard rocks (kibble) that day, and usually starts with a cheese omelette with lots of bacon. Let’s be honest, both dogs benefit on both birthday’s. The menu looks similar for both, but the little extra love & praise for that 24 hours goes to the birthday beast.
The one thing that does separate the birthday dog apart is the shopping spree. And this is where it gets dangerous. Anything our pooch pal shows interest in, goes in the cart. We find out the total damage at the end. Our girl Charley just celebrated her 4th, and she rung up a modest $147.29 in snacks & toys. For all the absolute joy these amazing creatures bring us on a daily basis, it’s a meagre drop in the bucket.
My son whipped up a cake for Charley (which they both ate), and you hope you spoiled them enough on their special day. Based on the longer than usual nap, I would say mission accomplished 😊
