What a rush!!!

Is there anything more emotional than a hockey game? Add a playoff game, in OT with the season up for grabs. Saturday's game for my boy Noah had it all. It was unreal.

After grabbing a 1-0 series lead (in a best of 3 format), the opposition Red Deer took care of their business at home forcing a do or die game 3 in our rink on the weekend. Watching your kid play in such an emotional environment is fun, add to it I'm on the pa and I'm not cheering like a fan. In the box you're a hockey Alberta official and remain neutral. That part is the hardest.

The game definitely wasn't going our way. Despite heavily outshooting Red Deer we found ourselves down 2-0 with just over 2 mins to play. Thanks to a power play goal we finally got our first one after 58 minutes and we had ourselves a game.

The place was packed, everyone was on pins and needles and we had no idea how this was going to turn out. Thanks to a goal with only 12 seconds left we found ourselves going to Overtime. So here we are, tied one game a piece, 2 goals a piece in a sudden death overtime. I wasn't sure I was going to draw a normal breath again.

So here we are on chewed up ice, 5 on 5 with the winner moving on to Sylvan Lake for the next round. I'm not going to say one team was better than the other, I've actually never seen 2 teams look so close.

Half way through OT, our guy Reid Christiansen picks off a d to d pass up the middle and comes in on a breakaway. This guy doesn't miss. And he didn't. The place went absolutely bonkers. What. A. Game. I know it's not the NHL but it's my NHL and I loved every second of it. Congrats Rocky Rams, game 1 of the best of 7 starts Wednesday night in Sylvan Lake. The best part is I get to watch my favourite hockey player for a little bit longer. I'll fill you in on what happens.
